WAR ECONOMY

“We must change violence for word” Federico Mayor Zaragoza

Here you are! A link from a video with one interesting interview I want to share with you.

It is in Catalan not in English :( but some words must be listened to, in English in Spanish in Catalan or whatever language you know or you understand.
Anyway the words from peace should be universal :)

In this video you can listen Federico Mayor Zaragoza and David Minoves who are saying things like that:

"We lived in a war economy"

"We have all knowledge and means to solve the problem of starvation preventing people's death in the world"
"We only need to create a big world plan for the global development. In this case our big companies would earn more money than in the weapons business"

"We spend 3.000 millions of dollars every day in the Arm industry while 60.000 people are starving to death" This is war economy.

“It is a great shame for the human being” this sentence is mine.

But "we can change the war economy to progress economy"

There is an inconvenient truth in the Spanish government; "Spain is the second country in the world manufacturing bullets". Have you ever heard about this information? It is An Inconvenient Truth for our government.

I invite you to listen to this interview and after that share it with other people because being informed and knowing things could change.
Enjoy the video!

TELLING A STORY

INDIAN PEOPLE
Did I ever tell you about the time I spent in India last year?
About a year and a half ago I went to Nepal and India and I was travelling around these countries for four and a half months.
It was a nice afternoon day, in the middle of January, a friend of mine and I were wander around Tiruvannamalai. Tiruvannamalai is a pilgrimage town in the south India. If you want, another day I will explain you more things from Tiruvannamalai.
We were enjoying our wander, the nice streets and the people, when suddenly we saw a Hindu wedding.
It was not strange, because they were the months's weddings, and It was normal to find Hindu and Muslim weddings every day.
When we came around the wedding, we could see all the people invited to the wedding, singing and laughing and the grooms who were wearing with colored dresses.
I took some pictures from the “naïf and colored” carriage than they arrived. For me was like a dream, so many colors.
The grooms left the carriage and started to go to another place by foot with a lot of people, who I supposed were the invited.
Suddenly the grooms and the other people saw as and started to take pictures from us. Indian people are incredible and always unpredictable.
Eventually the man who was driving the “nice” carriage invited me to go to the carriage and helped me sit in the big chair from the grooms. I couldn’t do anything more and in a few minutes I was in the middle of a big carriage in the middle of Tiruvannamalai with some Indian people, including the grooms, who were taking pictures from me.
It was one of the funniest things that’s ever happened to me!
This is India!

YES WE CAN !

I want to share with you this great song and video inspired by Barack Obama's "Yes We Can" speech that he makes in Nashua, New Hampshire on the night of the primary.
I wish this enthusiasm and energy would be strong enough to change many things this country has to change.
It is so exciting to feel that something different is happening in this country and it is wonderful to see all those people turn out with such optimism and hope and enthusiasm.
Obama said: “If you are ready for change, then we can change this country” we wish the country would be ready for all the changes the country needs.
Enjoy the song and try to understand the lyrics :)

The lyrics to the song are from the internet:

“It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.
Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.
We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics...they will only grow louder and more dissonant ........... We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea --

Yes. We. Can.”

AN UNCANNY STORY

What to do when inspiration doesn't come

She has to write an uncanny story and usually she has such a big imagination. She always has a story to explain, but this is not the case today.

What will she do???

She decides lo look up some information in Google, in her bookcase and in her writings but nothing comes to her mind.

After that she decides to open a bottle of wine and drinks a glass of wine with some toast with olive oil and “jamón serrano”. It could be a source of inspiration. Why not?

At the moment, inspiration doesn't appear, but the wine is wonderful and the food delicious.

She decides to do the same like Picasso, who said “inspiration does exist but it must find you working” and she takes pen and paper and she waits patiently for inspiration.
She drinks a little more and waits until the idea comes.
Suddenly she hears one strange noise from her bedroom. I
t makes her shudder.
She is alone in the building; the only neighbors she has have been to Torino just to visit relatives they have in this town. They had said goodbye to her the day before.

She decides to drink another glass of wine. Just after she has finished the second glass of wine she hears a strange noise again, stronger than before. At the same moment she feels a cold and inward wave inside her body. She feels frightened.

In a few minutes she hears the noise again, now stronger than de first and the second time. After the noise something has broken in the room.

- Oh, my god! She says.

She gives up drinking and tries to stand up from the chair but she can't, her legs are completely stationary.

The mix up with wine and the strange noise make her impossible to move. Suddenly she feels like this is the end of her short life, and she closes her eyes and thinks to say good bye to everything she knows.

Suddenly the noise becomes stronger and the door is opened. She closes her eyes and thinks the worse, in the middle of her big terror she opens one eye and she sees the neighbor's cat, probably it has gone in from the balcony they share. The cat starts to run around the living room, while it is running under the table it has broken the bottle of wine making a terrible mess in the middle of the living room.

After all she really feels happy. She starts cleaning the living room while some ideas about an uncanny story start coming.

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton

Tim Burton's name comes to my mind if we speak about an uncanny story. I love his sensitive and fertile imagination. When I remember Tim Burton, quickly appear to my mind Johnny Depp. If I love Tim Burton I have completely fallen in love with Johnny Depp. I admire his interpretations, I love his manner being so natural in the films, his character not traditional and his good-looking face. They make a nice, strong and very healthy combination inside the world of the cinema industry.

We are lucky, because in a few days there will be a new film from them in our cinemas. I wonder which dates exactly. This new film has been shown in the EEUU since last December, this means in a few days we will be able to see the new film called “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street “
If somebody knows the exact dates about this performance, please, don’t hesitate to inform me, at the moment we can see the trailer in the link I put below this “little” post.
And , meanwhile I’m thinking about an uncanny story to explain…………………..

HOLLY'S CHARACTER

Holly is a sensitive person who feels lost in this world. Sometimes she mixed up her feelings, her heart and her mind. And yes, she is a wild person but at the same time I can feel her vulnerability.

I like this quote from the book, when she opens a little bit her heart and shows us her vulnerability.

This is when she spoke with "Fred" (the writer) and she told him what she liked doing when he had got the mean reds.

Mean reds means when you feel horrible. When you are afraid and you sweat like hell, but you don’t know what you’re afraid of.

Holly: “All right. Angst. But what do you do about it?”

The writer: “Well, a drink helps”

Holly: “ I’ve tried that. I’ve tried aspirin, too. Rusty thinks I should smoke marijuana, and I did for a while, but It only makes me giggle. What I’ve found does the most good is just to get into a taxi and go to Tiffany’s. It calms me down right away, the quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there, not with those kind men in their nice suits, and that lovely smell of silver and alligator wallets. If I could find a real-life place that made me feel like Tiffany’s, then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name. I’ve thought maybe after the war, Fred and I…………………………… “

The speech from someone who feels alone and who has tried to find a place in the world.

Nepal as an excuse!

One year ago, at the end of November from 2006, I went to Nepal.
I remember my feelings just before the trip. I was nervous.
One part of me, like to be nervous before important events in my life.
Sometimes I need to remember what is important in my life, if I don’t, sometimes, I forget what is real important and I feel nervous for nothing or for not important things

Anyway, Nepal!

Do you know, the previous nerves were about unknown things. And when I arrived at destination, my feelings changed. And instead of being nervous I felt emotion, excitement and a lot of curiosity.

I remember how curios I was about this new country, these different people, the food, the different religions, etc…

When you go to a new country you open one door inside you. Sometimes this door is big sometimes it is small. But if you are receptive, little by little this door will be much bigger than before and you will be able to understand more about differences.

It Is for this reason that I think of an “ideal world” travelling around the world would have to be a subject in schools.

I wonder how many open minded people would there be if we could travel to many different countries and cultures more frequently since our childhood.

What do you think?
